Ripley and Tippah County compose a historically rich southern community that has the quaint atmosphere of the downtown courthouse square with its background stemming from the rich Faulkner heritage. One of the founding members of the community was Col. W. C. Falkner, which was William Faulkner's great grandfather. Ripley, a certified Main Street community, is rich in community spirit and prides itself in its generosity to community development. Ripley is also home to First Monday Trade Days, the oldest continuous running outdoor flea market, which begain on July 3, 1893.
